LEADERSHIP TRAINING

In
many ways this offering is the personalized version of
Person Centered Leadership. Therefore, we repeat some
of what we said in describing it.
The
program is called Person-Centered Leadership because it
is built on the assumption that each person brings a distinctive
personality to the task of leading. Therefore, our initial
concern is to develop awareness of one's natural gifts;
only at that point do we move on to developing additional
leadership skills.
When
we are asked to work with a single individual on her or
his leadership skills, we begin with a shared process
of identifying gifts and special challenges. Then we set
a strategy for addressing the challenges. The strategy
generally involves classic executive coaching, regular
feedback from some selected individuals (selected fundamentally
for their trustworthiness), setting performance goals
and determining benchmarks in the pursuit of those goals.
The
other aspect of our approach to this is that it is almost
always time-limited. We are given the challenge of developing
a person and we discipline ourselves to meet that challenge
in a reasonable amount of time - most often just six sessions.
