DECISION...
From
the French word DECIDERE, which means "to lose."
The
word DECIDOUS comes from the
same French word.
Deciduous trees lose their leaves in the
fall. Only if they lose their leaves can
they experience new growth
in the spring.

Whenever
we make major decisions, we will experience a sense of loss.
Too
often, leaders in the midst of change are unaware that their
decisions are causing persons to experience loss. The assume
that everyone will be as excited as they are about the possibilities
that are inherent in the change.
Unfortunately,
these same leaders lose their own effectiveness because
they are not skilled in managing loss.
