DIAGNOSIS...
From
the Greek word GNOSIS, which means "knowledge" and the prefix
DIA (not DI), which means "through" or even "thorough."
|
DIAGNOSIS
means thorough knowledge, knowledge that cuts through
the center of things (as in diameter), knowledge that
gets to the heart of the matter.
|
Too
often we misunderstand the significance of true DIAGNOSIS.
We
think that it means to pinpoint the problem, isolate it,
solve it.
In
fact, DIAGNOSIS means to take account of many variables,
to integrate them into a common wisdom. Then we use this
deep wisdom to bring the entire system to health.
This
understanding of DIAGNOSIS applies to individuals and to
organizations.
Our
work is mostly with organizations. When we experience some
disease within an organization, we resist the snap diagnosis
and the quick fix. Better to commit to a quest for thorough
knowledge and profound transformation.
