From the old French word HARER, which means "to set the dogs upon."

AND THERE SHOULD BE! HARASSMENT IS A TERRIBLE THING.

But sexual harassment sometimes occurs because women and men grow up in different cultures. Men are taught to be persistent. To keep trying. Never to give up.

• Maybe they can get a homer in the last inning.
• Or come from behind in the final two minutes.
• Or sink the winning basket at the buzzer.

Too often men don't know when persistence is becoming harassment. So women and men need to learn to communicate, clearly, about sexual harassment.
