HUMBLE...
From
the Latin word HUMUS, which means "ground" or "earth." Ancient
scriptures tell us that God took clumps of earth to make
the first human beings.
|
The
word HUMAN comes from HUMUS.
So does HUMANE.
And HUMILITY.
And HUMOR.
|
It
is good to be HUMBLE.
Indeed,
it is often a sign of true greatness.
The
Jewish philosopher-theologian Martin Buber writes:
The
history of mankind (is) a process involving two types
of men,
- the
proud who, if sometimes in the sublimest form, think
of themselves,
- and
the humble, who in all matters think of the world.
Only
when price subjects itself to humility can it be redeemed.
Only
if we are truly humble, truly grounded, can we be great.
It's
a paradox. But it is the way to live.
We
CAN do it!
