IDIOT...
As
you probably guessed, the word IDIOT is related to the word
ID.
The
ID is "the primitive undifferentiated part of the
psychic apparatus that reacts blindly on the pleasure-pain
level." But it is also true that the ID is "the
seat of psychic energy."

We
all know individuals who act like idiots. They have weak
egos which can't control the energy of the id. They live
by impulses.
This
is tragic.
But
even more tragic are corporations that are idiotic.
Corporations
can also react blindly at the pleasure-pain level, responding
to the latest change in the market without any sense of
overarching vision or purpose (I guess this would be called
the corporate "super-ego").
And
they too often lack the gentle guiding force of an effective
leader (who should function as the corporate "ego").
To
be a truly effective leader an individual must have a balance
among "the parts of the psychic apparatus."
But,
just as important, a leader must also seek that same balance
among the psychic forces that are at play in the corporate
personality.
