Basic
Premise:
The
Myers Briggs Type Indicator is the most widely used personality
inventory of our time. To be honest, it is used so often
that it is often used poorly. Therefore, we need to share
our understanding of its value.
The
Theory of Psychological Type was developed by Carl Gustav
Jung in the 1920s. After literally decades of study and
experimenting, two women - Isabel Myers and Katherine
Briggs - created a rather simple questionnaire that makes
Jung's exquisite Theory understandable and practical.
That questionnaire consists of approximately 100 questions
that give us an indication of our unconscious psychological
preferences around four major aspects of the human personality.
When individuals and groups understand their unconscious
preferences they can manage them in a deliberate and conscious
way. Such self-management leads to greater team effectiveness.
This
is our most popular workshop. Roberts Consulting, Inc.
has administered to MBTI to over ten thousand individuals
and led hundreds of organizations to higher levels of
effectiveness. All four of our consultants are qualified
users of theinstrument; each one has a specialty --
- David
uses the MBTI in a dramatically interpersonal way; he
has special training through an organization called
True Colors to dramatize four different human temperaments
- Matthew
combines his knowledge of the MBTI with his experience
in drama and dance, leading wildly exciting experiences
using improvisation and masks.
- Melissa
merges her 20 years as a teacher and a school social
worker to take the insights from Jung's Theory of Psychological
Type and apply them to Teaching and Learning Styles.
- And
Bill, who once had a fellowship from the Rockefeller
Brothers Foundation to study the thinking of Carl Jung
and is the author of two books using Jungian psychology
to understand change and human development, is recognized
a one of the leading scholars and practitioners of the
Myers Briggs Type Indicator. He is an associate of Otto
Kroeger Associates in Fairfax, Virginia, and on their
behalf leads introductory and qualifying workshops all
over the country. For additional information see www.typetalk.com
